Image Of the Day caption:
During a pair of linked research cruises on R/V Atlantis that spanned Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year, the crew and science team left a traditional enticement of cookies and milk to make sure Santa Claus didn't overlook them. Judging by the leftovers, it appears jolly old St. Nick found the ship, but no word on whether he came down the ship's stack or his reindeer and sleigh landed on the fantail between Alvin dives. Either way, we here at WHOI hope Santa finds you and your family this holiday, and we wish you a "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"

November 11, 2006 to January 5, 2007
The two cruises in 2006 include a tracer release (first cruise) and survey (second cruise). The survey should be initiated roughly 40 days after release, so the 2 cruises need a 2-3 week separation between them.
