The Girls in Ocean Engineering and Science (GOES) Institute brings a group of girls to WHOI during the summer before they begin sixth grade, as well as a teacher fellow funded by the National Science Foundation. The participants spend the week immersed in science and engineering activities, funded by an NSF grant to WHOI scientist and engineer Anna Michel. Here, this year's teacher fellow, Sturgis Charter Public School math teacher Stacey Strong (blue shirt), works with Morse Pond School students Laila Baptiste (center) and Sofia Rieckehoff-Strong (left).
