Image of The Day caption:
Summer Student Fellow Leah Fine recently found herself deeply immersed in preparations for the arrival of Hurricane Irene in Cape Cod. The Amherst College student delayed her return to school in order to help Jeff Donnelly and the Coastal Systems Group make measurements and deploy instruments along the shoreline near WHOI's Quissett Campus. Every year, the Summer Student Fellows spend 10 to 12 weeks at WHOI learning about oceanography from the inside. They participate in special seminars, conduct field and lab work, and complete a project under the guidance of a WHOI scientific or technical staff member.
