Image Of the Day caption:
Anna Michel, an assistant scientist at WHOI, received the 2017 Arnold B. Arons Award from Vice President for Academic Programs and Dean Jim Yoder at the MIT-WHOI Joint Program graduation reception in June. The award celebrates excellence in teaching, advising, and mentoring in honor of Dr. Arnold Arons, who helped build the graduate program. Michel is a worthy recipient. Among her contributions, she created the GOES (Girls in Ocean and Engineering) Institute, which since 2016 helps to inspire young girls to pursue careers in engineering through a weeklong, hands-on program of activities led by Michel and other WHOI scientists.
