Image Of the Day caption:
MIT-WHOI Joint Program student Melissa Moulton (center) received the 2016 George Gera Pavlovich Panteleyev Award from Associate Dean Margaret Tivey and Dean Jim Yoder in June 2016. The award is given to the graduating student, elected by students and faculty, who exemplifies commitment to improving the graduate education experience and student life at WHOI. It honors the memory of Panteleyev, an MIT-WHOI graduate student admired for his dedication to research and enthusiasm for graduate student life at WHOI. He was engaged in his masters degree research as chief scientist of a research cruise on the Ob River in Siberia in June 1995, when he was swept overboard in an accident and lost.
