2011 Chrysalis Award from the Center for Vision Loss in Pennsylvania.
Last year, the Center for Vision Loss named Amy Bower recipient of its 2011 Chrysalis Award, but the awards ceremony was canceled because of a snow storm. The executive director of CVL, Doug Yingling, came to WHOI on 09/17/2012 to present Amy with the award, and Larry sponsored the low-key event in the Fenno Lobby, followed by a small reception.
Image of The Day caption:
In October 2011 the Center for Vision Loss, an agency serving visually impaired people of eastern Pennsylvania, awarded their first-ever "Chrysalis Award" to WHOI scientist Amy Bower. The award , which honors "a blind or visually impaired person who has transformed the world around them," and was given to Amy to recognizer her achievements in oceanography and outreach. Though a rare October snowstorm forced cancellation of last fall's award ceremony, CVL Executive Director Doug Yingling came to WHOI on September 17, 2012, and presented Amy with the award at a small event sponsored by the office of WHOI's Director of Research.
