Elementary school children (grades 4 and 5) from PS 51 in NYC's Hell's Kitchen area touring the dock and R/V Neil Armstrong. Students participate in STEM activities at their school.
Image Of the Day caption:
Fourth- and fifth-grade students from Public School 51 in Hell's Kitchen, New York City, visited WHOI last week. The students, who participate in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) activities at their school, arrived by bus with their teachers and chaperones. WHOI staff gave them tours of the WHOI Ocean Science Exhibit Center, WHOI dock facilities, and the research vessel Neil Armstrong, where they posed on the ship's bridge. They were thrilled to discover that Armstrong had participated in Fleet Week last year and docked at the Intrepid Museum on West 46th Streetjust a few blocks from their school.
