In this fisheye lens view, WHOI engineer John Kemp, head of deck operations, is supervising Camper's deployment off the Oden's fantail. But the vehicle had descended only about 150 meters (492 feet) into the ocean, when WHOI geophysicist Rob Reves-Sohn called down from the bridge that Jaguar had surfaced and was near the ship. Camper was pulled back up in order to mobilize to try to find and recover Jaguar, which was somewhere under the ice.
