The ROGER project sent Spray gliders to take unprecedented measurements of the Equatorial Undercurrent in the Pacific Ocean near the Galápagos Islands. The gliders repeatedly dove through the powerful current (outlined in red), collected data on the way back up, and resurfaced to transmit data via satelliteetching a sawtooth pattern in the ocean. ROGER stands for Repeat Observations by Gliders in the Equatorial Region.
