Image Of the Day caption:
WHOI computer scientist and engineer Yogi Girdhar (foreground, at keyboard) works with MIT-WHOI Joint Program students Genevieve Flaspohler and Kevin Doherty to test and calibrate a robot in WHOI's Autonomous Robotics and Perception Laboratory (WARPLab). In the ocean, the BlueROV2 robot will use cameras to interpret its undersea environment. Working in collaboration with other similar robots, it will map the ocean bottom, identifying substrate types, seafloor anomalies, and other features of interest. The work is one component of WARPLab's NSF-funded efforts to develop multi-robot exploration techniques.
