Image of The Day caption:
Oceanographer Dennis McGillicuddy soaks up the sun after a successful expedition in the North Atlantic in 2005. McGillicuddy was recently selected by his peers to be the 2008 recipient of the Rosenstiel Award from the University of Miami. He was cited for multidisciplinary studies of plankton and ocean currents, which are helping to decipher what controls the productivity of marine ecosystems and how this affects the global carbon cycle.
