The main objectives of Leg B are to deploy and recover 3 CSMs, deploy and recover multiple Coastal Pioneer (CP) Gliders, and deploy 2 AUVs (singly or simultaneously) for ship-attended missions.
Image Of the Day caption:
A coastal surface mooring lies beneath the A-frame on the research vessel Neil Armstrong, while two instrumented anchor frames sit next to the gangway waiting to be loaded aboard. The Armstrong's voyage took it about 90 miles south of Martha's Vineyard in October 2018 to service the Pioneer Array, part of the Ocean Observatories Initiative. This was the first service cruise under a newly awarded five-year National Science Foundation contract to a WHOI-led coalition of academic and oceanographic research organizations to operate and manage the Ocean Observatories Initiative.
