Image Of the Day caption:
Interns Chris Eustis and Brecia Douglas from Northeastern University help organize sediment core samples collected from all over the world. WHOIs Coastal Systems Group collects and analyzes these cores in the Sediment Lab to gather valuable historical data on sea level rise and climate change as well as significant storms of the past. Studying past patterns especially of hurricane landfalls in a region, such as the Northeast, can help characterize future hurricane-related risks.
