In the lab on WHOI's coastal vessel Tioga, instructor Cindy Sellers shows undergraduate students real-time data on water conductivity, temperature, and depth from a CTD instrument lowered from the boat. Students (from left) Emily Neel, Walter Hutchinson, Gabriela Negrete and Ariana Favilla, participants in either the Summer Student Fellowship program or Partners Education Program, had a day of at-sea oceanography on Tioga. Sellers and other instructors demonstrated basic oceanographic techniques, and students had an opportunity to deploy and recover oceanographic tools for sampling water and sediments.
