Image Of the Day caption:
Adelie and chinstrap penguins "porpoise" through the water of the Southern Ocean near South Thule Island. Penguins and other animals are uniquely adapted to life in the harsh conditions of Earth's "high latitudes," but climate change fueled by global warming are changing the balance of ecosystems that sustain them. In May, WHOI biologist Stephanie Jenouvrier will lead a Morss Colloquium looking at changes that emperil penguins, polar bears, and other iconic (and some not so iconic) species that share our planet.
