Image of The Day caption:
Jesse McNichol (left) and Emily Moberg retrieve a rosette sampler to the deck of R/V Tioga during a recent cruise in Buzzards Bay. The two first-year MIT/WHOI Joint Program students took part in a half-day trip near Woods Hole this spring with their classmates who enrolled in the introductory biological oceanography course taught by WHOI Associate Scientist Jesús Pineda and Assistant Scientist Sam Laney. The group had the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in such basic oceanographic techniques as taking water samples with the rosette, making bottom trawls, conducting net tows.
