Caption from Down to the Sea for Science, p. 28:
Following shipyard work to correct problems encountered on the Atlantic crossing--including alterations to the plumbing system, the balky stove, and the rigging, plus installation of thirty-seven tons of additional ballast--Atlantis arrived in Woods Hole on August 31, 1931. Henry Bigelow (at left, wearing white trousers), was among those who gathered to welcome the new ship.
