Full notes "Deep Sea Explorer - This is the new self-propelled drill ship, Glomar Challenger, which will make a 40,000 nautical mile voyage in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans for the Deep Sea Drilling Project. She will drill between 40 and 60 holes in water depths ranging from 5,000 to 20,000 feet for the ambitious 18-month expedition which will explore the oceans' history. The drilling derrick towers 194 feet above the waterline."
