In September 2010 off the coast of Oregon, the Jason team, with help from the captain and crew of the NOAA research vessel R/V Thomas G. Thompson, recovered the ROV Jason after approximately 90 hours on the bottom exploring hydrothermal vents. The recovery was part of a cruise led by Bill Chadwick of Oregon State University. Ninety hours on the seafloor is a long time for a Jason dive, which generally lasts 21 hours, though operators have kept the vehicle down for as long as 100 hours in the past.
