Engineer Nicole Nichols and MIT/WHOI Joint Program student Chris Murphy take a pause from their work in Hanumant Singh's laboratory to pose with two of the group's projects. Murphy and colleagues are developing a clone (right) of the WHOI-developed SeaBED autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) for oceanographers at National Sun Yat-Sen University in Taiwan. Nichols stands with Jaguar, a new AUV being specially designed for work under the ice during an Arctic expedition in July 2007.
