Image Of the Day caption:
Ice floes in Iceland's J?kuls?rl?n lagoon come from Brei?amerkurj?kull (visible in the background), one of the glaciers draining the third largest ice cap in the world. Iceland was the destination of this year's Geodynamics Seminar field trip, which focused on ice dynamics. Melting ice on the Iceland and Greenland ice caps are major sources of fresh water into the North Atlantic, which contributes to sea level rise and potentially disrupts global ocean circulation.
