Summer Student Fellow Miranda Cashman (front) and Northeastern University student Michelle O'Donnell prepare samples for a germanium gamma detector in the Coastal Systems Lab run by WHOI geologist Jeff Donnelly. The samples came from sediment cores Donnelly and his collaborators collected from blue holes as part of their efforts to construct a record of the frequency and intensity of tropical cyclones in the western Atlantic.
