Image of the Day caption:
WHOI geochemist Bernhard Peucker-Ehrenbrink and Britta Voss, MIT/WHOI Joint Program student, take water samples from the Fraser River in British Columbia. Peucker-Ehrenbrink and scientist Max Holmes from the Woods Hole Research Center are spearheading the Global Rivers Observatory Project. Working with colleagues, students, and others, the scientists are documenting and tracking the chemical makeup of Earth's major river systems to learn about the health of the rivers and watersheds in a changing climate.
