WHOI scientists (left to right) Glen Gawarkiewicz, Scott Doney, Jeff Donnelly and Dan McCorkle are partnering with local groups to help improve the ability of the general public make informed decisions about climate changein Massachusetts and around the country. They will use a $1 million grant from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation to apply emerging scientific concepts and tools to help NGOs, businesses, policy makers and others anticipate and prepare for impacts including sea level rise, ocean acidification, ocean warming and coastal flooding. "Empowering local stakeholders is a promising strategy for raising awareness and engagement on climate issues," said Doney.
