Group Operations Leader John Kemp uses a hook to recover a top float mooring in September 2014 in the Beaufort Sea of the Arctic Ocean. In the 12th year of the Beaufort Gyre Exploration project, the mooring acquired vertical profiles of temperature salinity and velocity in the water column, measured ice draft, and obtained bottom pressure readings over the past year, and was refurbished and redeployed for another year.
