Massachusetts House speaker Robert DeLeo (center) gets a primer on the REMUS 6000 from principal engineer Mike Purcell (right), while Jim Rakowski, director of state government and external relations at WHOI's Center for Marine Robotics, looks on. DeLeo visited WHOI on October 11, 2013, during a tour of the state's "innovation economy." In addition to learning how the autonomous underwater vehicle works, the speaker heard how the REMUS was used to discover the wreckage of Air France flight 447.
