Image Of the Day caption:
Since 1870, when Jules Verne penned his famous novel, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, humans have dreamed of exploring the deep ocean. That dream has long since become a reality and has resulted in profound discoveries about the ocean and our planet. At the next Science Made Public talk at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday in Redfield Auditorium, learn from Alvin Group Manager about the history of human-occupied submersibles, starting from the early designs, to plans to take Alvin even deeper than it is currently capable. During his presentation, Strickrott will moderate a live phone call to the research vessel Atlantis to hear firsthand about Alvins latest adventures.
