Oceanic squid
Cephalopods such as this squid are generally well-suited to life in the extreme conditions of the ocean twilight zone. Among their adaptations are large, sensitive eyes that can detect the slightest motion or softest light. Prey in the ocean twilight zone can be few and far between, but cephalopods are adept at taking advantage of those rare encounters, using their tentacles to snatch their next meal. Their soft, gelatinous tissue is about the same density as seawater, preventing these animals from being crushed under the immense pressure at depth.
