Governing board of the National Research Council (NRC) visits WHOI.
Image Of the Day caption:
The REMUS 6000, developed at WHOI to map the ocean floor, is probably best known for locating the wreckage of Air France Flight 447 in 2011, two years after it crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Brazil. WHOI Director of Special Projects, Dave Gallo (left), co-led that search, and found the plane in nearly 2.5 miles of water. WHOI has offered its expertise in the search for the missing Malaysia Flight 370, but is not involved in the search at this time.
