After a week moving here and there near one spot, Oden revved up its engines and hit the open road to get to a new target site as quickly as possible. Well, not exactly "open." Where they could, Oden crew members set a course through large leads of open water, some of which stretched and meandered up ahead like white-banked rivers. In other places, Oden broke ice floes into blue chunks that popped out along the ship's hull.
