Caption from 2025 WHOI Wall Calendar, August:
A school of skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) chases a lure above the northeast shelf break near Veatch Canyon, about 110 nautical miles (204 kilometers) southeast of Woods Hole, Massachusetts. MIT-WHOI Joint Program graduate student Ciara Willis captured this photo during a swim break from fieldwork on a hot August day while tagging swordfish with WHOI’s Marine Predator Lab. The tags contain custom sensors that are tracking where these top predators spend their time.
