Caption from 2025 WHOI Wall Calendar, March:
Icebergs in lifting fog off the west coast of Greenland. WHOI research engineer Molly Curran photographed this moment during the Arctic summer while transiting from Karrat Fjord to Uummannaq Fjord aboard R/V Celtic Explorer during a Nereid Under Ice expedition. “As we neared the fjord entrance, massive icebergs towered around us, many much taller than the ship,” she said. “We had been in deep fog for hours leading up to this, and this iceberg was one of the first large, close bergs we saw as the fog lifted and the sun created a stunning glow.”
