Image Of the Day caption:
Last August, WHOI hosted a visit by Dr. Tamara Dickinson, the Principal Assistant Director for Environment and Energy at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. During her visit, which focused on vehicles and ship operations, Dr. Dickinson had the chance to climb inside the Alvin submersible to see first-hand the interior of the sub's new personnel sphere. Alvin is the nation's deepest-diving research sub and an essential tool for ocean research and exploration.
