For her dye experiment, Sarah chose this waterfall draining into a moulin for its fast flow and safe access. "Some of the littler ones we saw had a slower, more torturous path before disappearing into the moulin," she said. She expects to begin her experiment tomorrow morning.

WHOI geologist Sarah Das spent days this summer in Greenland looking for the perfect waterfall. Not to photograph or to take a really cold swim. She needed falling water for an experiment to trace how lake water drains through the ice sheet, over the bedrock below, and out to the ocean. Das chose this waterfall draining into a moulin (or hole in the ice) for its fast flow and safe access. "Some of the littler ones we saw had a slower, more torturous path before disappearing into the moulin," she said.
