The current sixth-graders were participating in the 2017 Girls in Ocean Engineering and Science (GOES) Institute, an annual program that brings middle school girls to WHOI for a hands-on week of engineering and science. WHOI engineer and scientist Anna Michel created and leads GOES with support from a National Science Foundation CAREER grant. Also participating in this year's program were Morse Pond School students Lillian Brown, Leah Croom, Ella Garredo, and Laila Baptiste (background, left to right).
