Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution's "workhorse" research vessel, R/V Oceanus, leaves the WHOI dock in July 2007, more-than-fully loaded with equipment for the NTAS (Northwest Tropical Atlantic Station) project. In a later season but a much warmer setting, in October 2008 Oceanus will make a series of first-ever cruises to the Red Sea, as part of a research collaboration between WHOI and KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology), an innovative new university in Saudi Arabia.
