Annual Summer Student Fellows hands-on, one-day, at-sea practicum cruise onboard the R/V Tioga focusing on data collection and sampling methods with advanced oceanographic technology and instruments.
Image Of the Day caption:
The WHOI Summer Student Fellowship program brings undergraduates to WHOI for a summer of ocean science. A memorable day for students is the annual science cruise on WHOI's coastal vessel R/V Tioga with instructors George Hampson and Bruce Tripp, who demonstrate oceanographic sampling methods. Student fellow Kelly Williams (right) from Allegheny College listens as Hampson explains how to use a Niskin bottle, held by Tripp, to sample water at a known depth. Behind them, students Chantal Van Ginkel (Eckerd College) and Victoria Luu (Boston College) watch.
