Image Of the Day caption:
WHOI instructor Hovey Clifford (right) shows summer student fellows Maya Becker (Columbia University) and Jacob Forsyth (Bowdoin College) how to rinse down a sample of sediment collected with a grab sampler and identify animals living in seafloor mud. Every summer, the WHOI Summer Student Fellowship Program takes undergraduate students out into Buzzards Bay aboard the coastal vessel R/V Tioga, exposing them to hands-on oceanographic methods and tools while they are working on individual projects in scientists' labs.
