Peter Thomson (right), President of the 71st United Nations General Assembly, visited WHOI recently to explore the possibility of greater collaboration in advance of The Ocean Conference being sponsored by the U.N. in June. At a press conference with WHOI president and director Mark Abbott, shown here, Thomson pointed to science as a much-need partner in his quest to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. "Im up here to engage with Woods Hole," he said, "because Woods Hole is where the good science has been coming from for, not decades, nearly 100 years."
