Image Of the Day caption:
Exhibit preparator Sean Murtha installs a new exhibit at the Ocean Science Exhibit Center entitled The Deep Sea. The exhibit was orginally displayed at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, Conn., and replicates the scene one might observe around a deep-sea hydrothermal vent located 8,000 feet below the Pacific Ocean surface along the Galapagos Rift. Models of organisms such as the giant tube worm, zoarcid fish (just visible on the far left), and hydrothermal vent octopus are among the unusual and rarely seen creatures featured in the display. The WHOI Ocean Science Exhibit Center will re-open for the season on April 20.
