The Society for Women in Marine Science (SWMS) brings together scientists, engineers, advocates, and educators to promote the visibility of women in the marine science community and to work to overcome challenges they face. This years SWMS fall symposium focused on the need for increased diversity in science and engineering, and featured keynote presentations by Kelly Kryc of the New England Aquarium and Robyn Hannigan of UMass Boston. The steering committee that organized the popular event included Henri Drake, Christie Hegermiller, Chloe Anderson, and Gabriela Serrato Marks (back left to right); and Christina Hernandez, Ashley Bulseco-McKim, Viviane Menezes, and Laura Weber (front left to right).
