A baby reef squid found its way into the nets of WHOI researchers as they worked in the waters around Belize to study the connectivity of reef ecosystems. Biologists and ecologists are attempting to understand the population dynamics of several species (particularly the connections between larval and adult habitats) that are supposed to be aided by marine protected areas. The squid was observed, logged, and released.
