This research trip (Aug 5-12, 2011) was an interdisciplinary study of the Hudson Canyon aboard NOAA's Henry B. Bigelow with scientists from NOAA, Rutgers University, Stony Brook University, University of Southern Mississippi, and WHOI. The goal was to study the physics and biogeochemistry of the Hudson Canyon. The chief scientist was Vince Guida (NOAA), the co-investigators were:
Peter Rona (Rutgers), Mary Scranton (Stony Brook), Donglai Gong (WHOI), Vernon Asper and Arne Diercks (USM). The ship was NOAA's Henry B. Bigelow. The SeaBED AUV named Mola Mola (from USM NIUST) and it was used to photograph the benthic habitat of the Canyon.

In August 2011, an interdisciplinary team launched a SeaBED-class autonomous underwater vehicle named Mola Mola from the NOAA research vessel Henry B. Bigelow. Scientists on the team came from NOAA, Rutgers University, Stony Brook University, University of Southern Mississippi, and WHOI with the goal of studying the physics and biogeochemistry of of seafloor communities in the Hudson Canyon.
