Knorr departs Woods Hole, cruise KN210-01.
Image Of the Day caption:
R/V Knorr passed the Steamship Authority freight vessel Sankaty in Woods Hole Channel on its way to the port of Cape Town, South Africa, in February 2013. Although it was a simple transit (albiet a long one), two researchers from the University of Miami took the opportunity to conduct experiments on board that were designed to better understand the uncertainties in satellite measurements of sea-surface temperature. Knorr is currently on its way back north carrying a science party led by WHOI chemist Liz Kujawinski on a cruise to study the interaction between the biology and chemistry, the land and ocean, and the surface and deep ocean in the western Atlantic.
