Date is approximate; image was in the August 1993 WHOI Newsletter. LADAS stands for Laser slope gauge, Acoustic Doppler current profiler, Acoustic anemometer, Surface sampler and was used to obtain measurements of sutfaee slicks that include chemical composition of sutface water, wave spectra, temperature of the upper meter of water, current velocity down to 30 meters, and wind speed and direction.
