Image Of the Day caption:
Every summer since 1959, the prestigious WHOI Summer Student Fellowship Program brings undergraduate students to Woods Hole, where they learn about ocean science and conduct research under the guidance of WHOI scientists. The 2014 fellows began with some hands-on experience using oceanographic equipment aboard the WHOI research vessel Tioga, where WHOI research associate Bruce Tripp (left) demonstrates the art and science of preparing to deploy water-sampling devices called Niskin bottles to two fellows, Maya Becker of Columbia University and Sam Kastner from Skidmore College. Applications for the 2015 class are being accepted through February 15.
