2014 Summer Student Fellows hands-on, one-day, ocean sampling cruise out into Buzzards Bay onboard the R/V Tioga. This cruise focuses on data collection and sampling methods with advanced oceanographic technology and instruments.

In the depths of winter, its nice to remember when undergraduates from around the world come to Woods Hole for a summer of science by the sea. Students learn about ocean science and conduct research with WHOI scientists in the WHOI Summer Student Fellowship program. Here, instructor Hovey Clifford (left) guides Filip Buksa from the University of Split, Croatia, and Caterina Brighi from Imperial College, London, as they deploy a sediment sampler from WHOIs research vessel Tioga. The other 2014 fellows hailed from the U.S., Italy, Trinidad, Germany, Canada, and China. Applications for the 2015 class are due February 15.
