Image Of the Day caption:
Summer Student Fellow Yuxin Zhou, working with WHOI geologist Delia Oppo and physical oceanographer Jake Gebbie, cuts off sections of a multi-core taken from the research vessel Endeavor in spring of 2014 off of Iceland. By analyzing fosilized remains of tiny shelled organisms known as foraminifera found in sediment cores like this, researchers are working to better understand the uptake of human-generated carbon dioxide into the ocean from the atmosphere.
