Hordon Hemingway, Marine Chemistry & Geochemistry.
Jordon Hemingway was raised in San Diego, Calif., and has been passionate about the ocean for as long as he can remember. Having spent most of his childhood wearing a wetsuit and with a surfboard in hand, he inevitably ended up in the MIT-WHOI Joint Program in Oceanography. His love of rivers, however, came later. As an undergraduate studying chemistry and environmental engineering at U.C. Berkeley, Hemingway became fascinated with the formation of estuaries where rivers meet the ocean, and its been all upstream from there. Since entering the Joint Program, he has learned to combine his background in engineering and fluid mechanics with a host of biogeochemical and isotopic measurements to better understand the dynamic flow of carbon from land to sea. When not chasing down river sediments, he can be found on the beach, likely with a book and a guitar in hand.
