Captain A.D. Colburn III's final cruise departure from WHOI prior to his retirement. Cruise AT39-01.
Image Of the Day caption:
The family of A.D. Colburn waved goodbye from the end of the WHOI dock as R/V Atlantis departed on AD's final trip as master of the ship recently. The son of Arthur D. Colburn Jr., the last captain of WHOI's original Atlantis, A.D. has ships, and WHOI, in his blood. From a boy on a boat with his dad, to a cadet, to second mate on R/V Knorr, and finally captain of R/V Atlantis, A.D. has had a long and memorable career helping scientists and engineers from around the world make their research a reality. Everyone at WHOI wishes him well on his next adventures whether they be on land or sea.
